Important Dates
- Registration for Class 1: Applications begin on April 1, 2024.
- Registration for Classes 2nd to 10th: Applications begin on April 1, 2024.
- Exact closing dates will be announced closer to the application start dates.
Eligibility:
- Class 1: Child must be 6 years old as of March 31st, 2024 (children born on April 1st are also eligible).
- Classes 2nd to 10th: Admission depends on seat availability within a specific class and KV.
The minimum and maximum age limit for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas in various classes is given below: (Child born on 1st April should also be considered.)

| VI | 10 years but less than 12 years of age. |
| VII | 11 years but less than 13 years of age. |
| VIII | 12 years but less than 14 years of age |
| IX | 13 years but less than 15 years of age. |
| X | 14 years but less than 16 years of age. |
Note: The maximum age limit can be relaxed by two years in case of differently abled children by the Principal.
Application Process:
- For online applications, visit the official portal: https://kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in/
- Offline forms can be obtained from designated Kendriya Vidyalayas.
- Carefully follow the instructions provided and submit all required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
Selection Process:
- Class 1: Admission is based on a draw of lots for all categories.
- Classes 2nd to 10th: Selection is based on merit, considering factors like previous academic performance and sibling preference (in some cases).

- Familiarize yourself with the eligibility criteria: Age requirements and class availability vary across regions and classes. Check the KVS website for detailed information.
- Gather necessary documents: Keep scanned copies of your child’s birth certificate, address proof, category certificate (if applicable), previous year’s marksheet (if applicable), and other required documents ready.
- Explore the different Kendriya Vidyalayas: Each KVS offers unique facilities and programs. Visit nearby schools, talk to parents, and choose the one that best aligns with your child’s needs and preferences.
- Register online promptly: Once the application portal opens, register at the earliest to avoid last-minute hassles. The system follows a first-come-first-served basis for certain categories.
- Practice online application: Familiarize yourself with the online application process beforehand. This will save time and ensure smooth submission once the portal opens.
- Stay informed: Subscribe to KVS updates and follow their social media channels for the latest announcements and important dates.
In order to ensure smooth and quick filling of the application form, please keep the following ready:
- a valid mobile number with Indian SIM card,
- a valid email address,
- a digital photograph or scanned photograph of the child seeking admission (JPEG file of size at most 256KB),
- a scan copy of the child’s birth certificate (JPEG or PDF file of size at most 256KB),
- details of government certificate in case you are applying under economically weak section,
- transfer details of parent/grandparent whose service credentials will be used in the application.
