Railways to Switch to ‘Five’ – Digit System for Numbering all its Passenger Carrying Trains from Tomorrow

In a significant move to make the train numbering system of passenger carrying trains of Indian Railways more scientific, logical, uniform and computer-friendly, Ministry of Railways has decided to use ‘five’ - digits for numbering trains, in place of the existing ‘four’- digit numbering system. The new ‘five’- digit numbering system of trains will come into effect from tomorrow.

Consolidated guidelines on cadre review of Central Group ‘A’ Services

The undersigned is directed to say that provisions governing the process of cadre review of Central Group ‘A’ Services are contained in various Office Memoranda issued by the Department of Personnel and Training and the Department of Expenditure. As a part of this Department’s endeavour to keep the personnel policies relevant to current and future needs, these provisions have been reviewed in consultation with various stakeholders and it has been decided to issue a consolidated and revised set of guidelines on cadre review. The revised guidelines are given below. Besides, the broad issues concerning cadre review have been elaborated in the revised Monograph on Cadre Review of Central Group ‘A’ Services enclosed herewith. The list of existing Central Group ‘A’ Services is at Annex-I.

Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination, 2010

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination, 2010 at 41 centres on 19.12.2010 (Sunday). Admission certificates to the candidates have been dispatched. Rejection Letters citing the ground(s) for rejection have also been dispatched. If any applicant has not received either the admission certificate or the rejection letter, he/she may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter on Tel. NO. 011-23385271, 011-23381125 and 011-23098543 on all working days between 10.00 A.M. to 05.00 P.M. The candidates can also send fax messages on Fax No.011-23387310. Information on venues of the examination is also available at Union Public Service Commission’s website http://www.upsc.gov.in.

TN – Grant of Special Allowance of Rs. 500/- to the Secondary Grade Teachers clarification

In the Government Order cited, among others, orders have been issued to grant special allowance of Rs.500/- per month to the Secondary Grade Teachers and other teaching posts in the grade of Secondary Grade Teacher / Head Masters of High Schools with effect from 01—08--2010.

Railway Order – Placement of Pharmacists in the Entry Grade Pay of Rs.4200/-(NFG) on completion of 2 years service in the Grade Pay Rs.2800/-

In terms of Board's letter No.PC-VI/2009/1/RSRP/10 dated 30.03.2010, the Pharmacists (Entry Grade) in the pre-revised scale Rs.4500-7000 have been granted Grade Pay Rs.2800 in Pay Band-1 (Rs.5200-20200) w.e.f.01.01.2006. On completion of two years of regular service in the Grade Pay of Rs.2800, the Pharmacists (Entry Grade) in PB-1 (Rs.5200-20200) are eligible to be granted non-functional upgradation to the next higher Grade Pay of Rs.4200 in the Pay Band-2 (Rs.9300-34800).

Acceptance of Recommendation of the Sixth Central Pay Commission relating to introduction of Child Care Leave

I am directed to enclose a copy of this Department's O.M. No.14028/4/2009-Estt. (L) dated 7th September, 2010 on the subject mentioned above and to intimate that it has been decided in this Department to implement the decision of the Government, contained in the aforesaid O.M., to the members of the All India Services mutatis-mutandis, pending amendment in the All India Services (Leave) Rules, 1955.
