The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the payment of arrears to its employees on account of implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah last evening, approved the roadmap for settlement of the arrears, an official spokesman said. According to the decision, the state government will mobilise its own resources to pay 50 per cent of the arrears while the Centre will be pursued to fund the balance amount, the spokesman said.
The Uttarakhand government has announced an ex-gratia for employees working in various government-owned corporations on the lines of state government employees. Issuing a government order to this effect yesterday, the government has said that corporations would have the final say to decide the amount of ex-gratia to be paid to the employees according to their finanical position, officials said. Around 40,000 employees working in various government-owned corporations would be benefitted by this move. In another significant move, the government has decided to give 31 days of Earned Leave (EL) every year to the state government employees, who have 300 days of ELs in their account. However, it has been made clear that the employee has to avail these ELs for 31 days in the same year.
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) on Monday announced 20 per cent bonus and ex gratia for 69,621 employees for 2009-2010. The payment, comprising 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent ex gratia, will be made in instalments, beginning Wednesday, Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veeraswami told reporters at the TNEB headquarters here. This will cause an additional expenditure of Rs.60.75 crore to the Board. For 9,600 contract labourers and 5,516 part time workers too, ex gratia of Rs.1,500 each will be distributed.
The Tamil Nadu government today announced 8.33 per cent bonus for its over one lakh strong transport staff.
This would cost the exchequer about Rs. 100 crore.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi made the announcement today, besides announcing 11.67 per cent incentive for 1.27 lakh employees of various transport corporations, a government release here said.
In the said Rules, in rule 15-B, in the provisos to sub-rule (1), for the expression “Rs.2,50,000/-”, the expression “Rs.6,00,000/-” shall be substituted.
The Government of India in its Office Memorandum second read above has now enhanced the Dearness Allowance to its employees from 35% to 45% with effect from 1st July, 2010.
