DA Calculation Sheet

DA Calculation Sheet: The DA for Central Government Employees was earlier calculated based on the consumer price index with the base year 2001. The Central Government replaced it with a new consumer price index with the base year 2016 to calculate the DA from September 2020.

  1. ALL CENTRAL GOVERMENT STOPED DA FROM01.07.2016.??????????????? Yes. It is absolutely right. The da must be 3.28% w e f 1.7.16 for cg employees and pensioners.

  2. Your calculation of DA w.e. f. 1.7.2016 under 7th PC is incorrect. You are overlooking the fact that the central staff was given DA upto 125 % i.e.based on 12 months average of AICIPIN of 260.40 while the average was 261.41 as of 1.1.2016 ignoring the points above 125%. Since the pay under 7th CPC has fixed after including the 125 % DA only, any rise in average AICIPIN above 260.40 should be given as DA. Thus DA admissible from 1.7.2016 would be 3 %.

  3. As per latest labour bureau indications, if the inflation trend continues like this, we may get DA not below 4% as per 7th CPC w.e.f. 1.1.2017.

  4. AICPI for July,2016 has been released and the figure stands at 280 (rise of 3 points). Please indicate the rise in DA entitlement under 7th CPC regime. Thanks.

  5. New formula for Dearness Allowance Calculation

(12 months Average of AICPIN – 261.4) divided by 261.4 multiply by 100

    = [(263+264+266+269+270+269+269+267+268+271+275+277)/12]-(261.4)X100/261.4 = = 2.91 %.

Now tell me how you arrived at the figure of 261.4? According to me it should be 115.76 X 125% = 260.46. If my calculation is correct then rework the D.A. and upload the corrected version.

    • Hi Vasu,

Here is the method to calculate 261.4

      Average of 2015 AICPIN

      i.e.

      =254+253+254+256+258+261+263+264+266+269+270+269=3137
      =3137/12=261.4
      =261.4

      Hope this clears your doubt.

Is there is any change to calculate the DA (New Formula)

  9. DA reduce by calculating from New formula (2 %) approx., from old formula I have seen on DA sheet that comes to 7% approx. up to june2016, this is not good singe for govt servents.

  10. TheCPI-IW forJune,2016 is released at 277 points. So 7 points rise confirmed, but it is doubtful whether this will be sanctioned

  12. As per plain reading of gazette notification on on DA from 1/7/2016 the opinion expressed by Mr Kanwal Batra, above appears to be correct. So we will DA at 7% from 1st July 2017.

  13. 7cpc has recommended same regime of da without changing base year. So, da calculations showing da increase as 7% Wef 01 Jul are right. Those saying 2% are arithmetically wrong . 2% on new basic pay is less than 7% on old basic pay if compared. This is when the fitment factor is 2.57!!!!
The govt cannot bring base year to 2016 in whimsical manner. You have to have logical sense. In the 6 CPC regime when 50% da was merged the da increase after that continued in the same fashion.

Government moves to double MPs’ salary to Rs 2.8 lakh a month, hike pensions
The proposal, currently with the Finance Ministry, also suggests that basic pension should be raised from Rs 20,000 per month to Rs 35,000.

The government has proposed increasing the monthly salary of an MP from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, constituency allowance from Rs 45,000 to Rs 90,000 and secretarial assistance plus office allowance from Rs 45,000 to Rs 90,000.
The central government seems set to double the salaries and allowances of Parliamentarians. If a proposal in this regard is approved by the Finance Ministry, every MP will get Rs 2.8 lakh per month. Their pension, too, will see a jump.

The proposal, currently with the Finance Ministry, also suggests that basic pension should be raised from Rs 20,000 per month to Rs 35,000. Those who have served for more than five years would get an additional amount — the number of years multiplied by Rs 2,000. Currently, the additional amount is the number of years multiplied by Rs 1,500.

If the Finance Ministry agrees to allocate the amount, Parliament will amend the Salary, Allowance and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Bill to incorporate the changes, sources said. “The ministry is expected to accept the proposals,” said a top government official.
The Finance Minister had allocated Rs 295.25 crore for Lok Sabha MPs and Rs 121.96 crore for Rajya Sabha MPs — which includes expenses such as travel — in his last budget.
