8th Pay Commission Railway Inspection
Following the Railway Board’s decision to organize field visits for the 8th Central Pay Commission, the Indian Railways Technical Supervisors’ Association (IRTSA) has formally requested the expansion of the official inspection itinerary. In a memorandum dated July 4, 2026, IRTSA urged the inclusion of high-risk, round-the-clock operational segments—such as OHE overhead line maintenance, Vande Bharat rake inspections, suburban EMU upkeep, and major manufacturing production units—in the 8th CPC’s tour program. The association highlights that a firsthand look at these technically complex and hazardous environments is crucial for the pay panel to fairly evaluate the true degree of risk, skill, and hardship borne by rail engineers and technical staff before finalizing future pay structures.
